The Summer Of Peggy Noonan’s Discontent

For some time now Peggy Noonan has been a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma; to me at least.
Her magnificent obsession with America’s Child Emperor felt like a betrayal of her former boss, Ronald Reagan.  By this I mean, how could a woman who fashioned the stirring speech The Boys of Pointe du Hoc or the heart-wrenching address to the nation following the Challenger explosion be so blind in her defense of the current occupant of the Oval Office?
Her swooning came at a heavy price.  Once upon a time her skillful wordsmithing was broadly shared in the conservative dextrosphere.  Now, not so much.
It is clear that her euphoria is dying.  What took her so long to recognize Obama’s gospel of envy and presidential impotence?  As she emerges from her elitist white guilt trip, Noonan succinctly describes the errand boy sent by grocery clerks:
“So he is losing a battle in which he had superior forces—the presidency, the U.S. Senate. In the process he revealed that his foes have given him too much mystique. He is not a devil, an alien, a socialist. He is a loser. And this is America, where nobody loves a loser.”

This president has more to worry about than Noonan’s forceful denunciation.  Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the country’s first self-described socialist, echoed the growing discontent among many on the Left.

While appearing on a radio show, Sanders addressed a caller saying, “Brian, believe me, I wish I had the answer to your question. Let me just suggest this. I think there are millions of Americans who are deeply disappointed in the president; who believe that, with regard to Social Security and a number of other issues, he said one thing as a candidate and is doing something very much else as a president; who cannot believe how weak he has been, for whatever reason, in negotiating with Republicans and there’s deep disappointment. So my suggestion is, I think one of the reasons the president has been able to move so far to the right is that there is no primary opposition to him and I think it would do this country a good deal of service if people started thinking about candidates out there to begin contrasting what is a progressive agenda as opposed to what Obama is doing. [...] So I would say to Ryan [sic] discouragement is not an option. I think it would be a good idea if President Obama faced some primary opposition.”

More evidence of this president’s political impotence is emerging from former confidant of Martin Luther King, Jr. and political activist, Harry Belafonte who said, “Barack Obama and his mission has failed because it lacked a certain kind of moral courage, a kind of moral vision…a kind of courage we are in need of.  When he said ‘Yes, we can,’ it was politically clever, but he never defined what it is we can do. So we filled in those spaces—what we thought he meant—only to find we were disappointed, because none of those points was satisfied.”
So, to Peggy and Harry I would say, you were warned that the most powerful man in the world was impotent.  Your frustration and disillusionment is self-inflicted and Election Day 2012 can’t come soon enough.  Washington is broken; due, in large part, to this regime.  I pray America can survive what will hopefully be Obama’s one and only term in office.

40,000 Angry Birds And Counting

The New York Daily News is reporting that America’s Child Emperor “brought his debt battle to Twitter and he lost—more than 40,000 Twitter followers.”
Here’s what he tweeted:  The time for putting party first is over. If you want to see a bipartisan #compromise, let Congress know. Call. Email. Tweet. —BO

Immediately thereafter his campaign staff embarked on a day-long spam attack by tweeting the handles of GOP leaders state by state, tweet by tweet.

Apparently 40,000 Twitter followers didn’t appreciate the spam and demonstrated their infuriation by unfollowing President Prissy Pants. A search for@BarackObama unfollowturned up scores of irritated posts.

One such post reads “I want to unfollow @BarackObama, but his desperation is too entertaining,” tweeted @rdpatrick of Lavonia, Georgia.

Jack Dorsey, when creating Twitter, defined a tweet as “a short burst of inconsequential information.”

The Treacherous Miss Fonda

“I have learned to hate all traitors, and there is no disease that I spit on more than treachery.”— Aeschylus, 525-456 BC

I don’t know about you, but I’m with Aeschylus when it comes to the treacherous Miss Fonda.

On July 7, 2000 The Washington Times reported her feckless apology for being photographed on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft carrier alongside Viet Cong soldiers.  The paper went on to report statements she made about communism. On November 21, 1970 she told a University of Michigan audience of some two thousand students, "If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist." At Duke University in North Carolina she repeated what she had said in Michigan, adding "I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism.”

Let us also not forget her little friend, John Kerry, Democrat senator from the Commonwealth of Taxachusetts seen in the picture accompanying this post at an anti-Vietnam War rally on Labor Day at Valley Forge, PA forty-one years ago.

Why have I focused on events in this hag’s long ago past?  For starters she clings to the notion that QVC, a multinational corporation specializing in televised home shopping, “caved” to “insane pressure by some well-funded and organized political extremist groups.”
Quoting from her website, “Bottom line, this has gone on far too long, this spreading of lies about me! None of it is true. NONE OF IT! I love my country. I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us. I do not understand what the far right stands to gain by continuing with these myths. In this case, they denied a lot of people the chance to hear about a book that can help make life better, easier and more fulfilling. I am deeply grateful for all of the support I have been getting since this happened, including from my Vietnam Veterans friends.”
Her Twitter account proudly displays a mug shot of her with a raised, clenched fist in defiance of her arrest in November 1970 for allegedly trying to smuggle a large stash of pills through the Cleveland airport (charges were later dropped). Fonda, arriving from Canada, was detained by U.S. Customs agents after a large stash of diet pills, Valium, and tranquilizers was discovered in her luggage. Why would someone be proud of that Kodak moment?
Jane Fonda is a moonbat, a self-professed socialist and, in my humble opinion, a traitor.  She was deservedly nicknamed “Hanoi Jane” and by “support” she’s been getting from her Vietnam Veteran friends, does she mean Senator John Kerry?
In her 2006 autobiography, Fonda confessed that giving aid and comfort to the enemy will haunt her until the day she dies.  God will see to that, Jane.  QVC’s decision to cancel her appearance to promote her new book is a delightful way to keep the memory vivid in her mind.

You Only Lie When You’re Afraid

This Photoshop™ is the product of an idea floated by Mind Numbed Robot.  He emailed me requesting that I come up with a visual of the errand boy sent by grocery clerks as “Spendgali”—a spin-off of the fictional character, Svengali, in George du Maurier’s 1894 novel Trilby.
A Svengali is one who manipulates or controls another as by some mesmeric or sinister influence.
Over at Memeorandum there is a thread entitled, “Obama:  Public is ‘sold’ on tax increases in a debt-ceiling deal.”  I won’t call that a lie, but it just ain’t so.
The impudence of this president is staggering.  Not since the Carter Administration have we seen a Commander-in-Chief more out of touch with the people than this one.  Gallup says only 16 percent of Americans are satisfied with the direction that this regime is taking our great nation.
Proof that the Errand Boy is lying is found in the latest Rasmussen poll.  Most voters oppose including tax hikes in the deal. Just 34% think a tax hike should be included in any legislation to raise the debt ceiling. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 55% disagree and say it should not.

There is a huge partisan divide on the question. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Democrats want a tax hike in the deal while 82% of Republicans do not. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, 35% favor a tax hike and 51% are opposed.

May we survive until January 20, 2013.

Photoshop™ Of The Day: Eat Your Own Damn Peas

“At a moment when we needed leadership the most, we got the least. The financial security of the nation was being gambled on the President’s wager that he could convince people our problems would be solved if we just all agreed to take it out on the guy in the fancy house down the street.”—Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader

They Told Me If I voted For John McCain That We’d Have A President Who’d Turn Out To Be Like Jimmy Carter, And They Were Right!

I don’t sense that the battle for fiscal sanity being waged in Washington will end well. John Boehner, Speaker of the House said that he couldn't move ahead with a $4 trillion deal because the errand boy sent by grocery clerks was insisting on a $1 trillion tax increase.

Errand Boy is willing to cut current entitlements on the premise that they are unaffordable, but he's taken what may be the most expensive entitlement off the table—ObamaCare—his clowning achievement.

The Wall Street Journal proffers that this was his “spend-and-tax plan from the very first—run up spending and debt in the name of stimulus and health-care reform, then count on Wall Street bond holders and the political establishment to browbeat Republicans into paying for it all. He apparently didn't figure on the rise of the tea party, or 1.9% GDP growth and 9.2% unemployment two years after the recession ended.”

“Last November Republicans won the House and landslide gains in many states in large part because of the deep unpopularity of the stimulus and ObamaCare. Mr. Boehner has a mandate for spending cuts and repealing the Affordable Care Act. If Republicans instead agree to raise taxes in return for future spending cuts that may or may not happen, they will simply be the tax collectors for Mr. Obama's much expanded entitlement society.”

Plouffe And The Gang Have Their Heads In The Sand

Oh my.  The Lefties are all wee-wee’d up because the errand boy sent by grocery clerks has a chief White House strategist who went off the rails when he said, “The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers.  People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate, they’re going to vote based on: ‘How do I feel about my own situation? Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?’”
Is David Plouffe right?
Julianna Goldman, writing for Bloomberg, points out that since World War II, no U.S. president has won re-election with a jobless rate above 6 percent, with the exception of Ronald Reagan, who faced 7.2 percent unemployment on Election Day in 1984. The median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg puts the unemployment rate at 8.2 percent in the third quarter of next year.
“Their decision next year will be based upon two things,” Plouffe said. “How do I feel about things right now and then, ultimately, campaigns are always much more about the future and who do I think has got the best idea, the best vision for where to take the country?”
Sixty-eight percent (68%) of voters say the country is heading down the wrong track, showing no change from the previous survey. Since January 2009, pessimism in the nation’s current direction has ranged from 57% to 72% according to the latest Rasmussen polling results.

Plouffe and the gang are delusional and here’s why:  A majority (60%) of the Political Class believes the country is heading in the right direction while a staggering seventy-seven percent (77%) of mainstream voters disagree.  Forty-six percent (46%) say America’s best days are behind her while just 37% say they are ahead of her.
The Rose Garden speech on Friday, July 9th proves beyond a reasonable doubt that this president and his den of thieves are in desperate need of a clue bat.
No more years please.  If you vote for this clown again you’re not a raaaaacist, you’re a masochist.

Twit-In-Chief

Who thinks they should have hired Anthony Weiner for Obama’s Twitter Townhall?  He proved his prolific Twitter proclivity for the job and he’s one helluva great bully.

What Are You Doing To Stand Guard Over Liberty?

Instapundit’s column in Sunday’s Washington Examiner offers three things you can do now for liberty rather than just bidding time until the 2012 elections.
Attack the funding. Many of the most anti-liberty activities of state and local governments are driven by federal funding—either direct funding, or grants.

Stop supporting the enemies of freedom and start supporting your friends. Cancel your subscriptions to cable TV channels, magazines or newspapers that support big government over individual liberty.

Join Together. It may seem contradictory to assert your independence by banding together. But our Founding Fathers didn't set America free by acting alone.

I urge you to read the whole thing, but I’d also like to recommend three ideas of my own.

A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.  It’s an insipid claim, but if true, go to that hometown parade.  We need more Republicans to stand guard over liberty.  It’s wonderful knowing that Progs fear patriotism.

Monitor the activities of your local Organizing For America office.  If they are operating a phone bank from a church in your area, you should challenge them.
And finally, please support our troops. America continues to uphold its ideals and is a symbol of freedom and democracy for the entire world thanks to our brave military men and women.

Confucius Say Never Forget Kindnesses

I cannot imagine why a man who is currently deployed in Afghanistan and expecting a son—known to all in the dextrosphere as The World’s Youngest Blogger—would extend a kindness to this site.
Mark Twain’s words come to mind:  Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
When I learned that Smitty was excited about Thad McCotter throwing his hat into the ring for 2012, I emailed him a Photoshop™ of McCotter alongside President Ronald Reagan.  I imagine McCotter as most similar to none of the Republicans who have thus far entered the fray against the errand boy sent by grocery clerks.
What followed was this Letter To An Anonymous Blogger:
Blogging is a rush, but you can’t have peaks without valleys. We are all members of the chorus of self-government. We succeed or fail insofar as we show up to work as Presidents of our own lives. The pressure to ‘compete’ is a bit of a distracter; you remain a welcome member of the chorus. More is better. We don’t all get the solo moment, but the whole of the chorus is far more important than whichever soloist is varying the theme of liberty at any given time.
It is a historical accident that the buck must stop somewhere. That is, admitting we require a President to accept the blame, or credit, for events is a sad existential expedience. The stuck-ee for being President after the election settles is less important than whether or not the person stands for Liberty.
But don’t spend all day reading me; get your doggone blog on, you Curmudgeon!

Warm regards,
Smitty
His kindness is carved on my heart and I shall never forget what he has done.  Nor will I stop praying for his safe return home or stop thanking him for his service to our great nation.

Lost Seal Of The Errand Boy Sent By Grocery Clerks

David Gambacorta of the Philadelphia Daily News, breathlessly reports that a magnetic presidential seal flew off the limousine carrying the errand boy sent by grocery clerks as it traveled down I-76 in Philly following another of his fundraising events.
Presumed lost, it was later found by a cop assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle.
Come November 2012, that seal will be taken away permanently.
